Rita draws on his Portuguese heritage to craft observational, storytelling material about family and cultural identity. He has performed multiple times at the Just For Laughs festival and in 2024 was named by the president of Portugal as one of the 70 most significant Portuguese Canadians of the past 70 years. His recorded releases include the albums 'Pot Comic' and 'Child of the 90s' and the 2024 special/album 'Reets', and his career includes awards such as the Tim Sims Encouragement Award and a Canadian Screen Award nomination.
